What product or which service does the startup provide?
Mego Mobility operates the Klushub sharing concept: a sharing system consisting of transfer locations around the city, called Klushubs. Light Electric Handy Vehicles are offered here that can be rented by professionals per half day. With the DIY Hub and our Light Electric Vehicles, we offer an alternative to the handy bus for compact and sustainable driving into the city. Our mobile app allows the user to reserve a vehicle up to 30 minutes before use. On the DIY Hub, the vehicle is opened via the same app, after which you have the vehicle at your disposal throughout the day.
Who are the products or services intended for?
Our transport is intended for professionals active in the construction, maintenance and installation sector. They lose a lot of time and turnover due to the logistical challenges in the city that are caused by the city’s crowds and car-free traffic. Mego is currently realizing the first Klushubs in Amsterdam in collaboration with hardware stores and professional wholesalers. This cooperation has the advantage for the construction market that the user can combine the switch to our vehicles and the purchase of materials. In addition, the use saves time for the user, resulting in more jobs per day, resulting in higher material consumption.
Which problem does the startup solve exactly?
Making municipalities more sustainable and two ambitions play a central role in this, namely: emission-free and car-free. Inner-city transport should therefore not only be electrified, but also more compact. In order to make car use unattractive, there is a discouragement policy: for example, streets are closed, parking spaces are closed, environmental zones are introduced and parking rates are rising. At the same time, cities are attracting more inhabitants and additional buildings have to be built to accommodate them. More maintenance and installation work is also required due to an intensification of use of the current infrastructure. The logistical changes in the inner city introduce a huge challenge for professionals; they lose a lot of time because of being stuck in traffic, having to look for a parking space and the high parking costs. With Mego we want to support the sustainable ambitions of municipalities and ensure that the craftsman can arrive at his destination electrically and compactly.
