ENSO’s mission is to develop better tyres for EVs; to reduce air and ocean pollution, help stop climate change, and accelerate the adoption of EVs and cleaner forms of mobility.

What product or which service does the startup provide?
ENSO’s mission is to develop better tyres for EVs; to reduce air and ocean pollution, help stop climate change, and accelerate the adoption of EVs and cleaner forms of mobility. ENSO’s unique selling point (USP) is to combine our better EV-tyres with a better business model, a unique circular combination that already has received substantial traction with leading EV-carmakers and large EV-fleets. This model directly incentivises ENSO financially to increase the ultimate lifespan of each EV-tyre to increase the total revenues generated per tyre, directly reducing the amount of tyre pollution for each kilometre driven.

Who are the products or services intended for?
The main customers of ENSO will be EV-Carmakers (OEMs) and large EV-Fleets (e.g. delivery companies, municipalities, shared vehicle schemes, taxis, hire-cars and future AV-platforms). The follow-on customers will be smaller EV-fleets and individual EV-drivers, specifically EVs operated in dense urban areas with higher EV-concentrations. The OEM market is concentrated around the top-5 players, but on the flip-side tyre distribution and sales in the aftermarket (B2B & B2C) is highly fragmented, dominated by small and medium businesses in local markets, creating perverse financial incentives to sell higher-margin cheap tyres that generate more pollution due to their limited durability.

Which problem does the startup solve exactly?
Tyres are a major global polluter, contributing enormously to carbon-emissions, air pollution, ocean micro-plastic pollution, toxicity and mountains of non-recyclable waste at their end-of-life. The fast-growing EV-market also presents an even greater challenge to our planet. EVs are heavier and have higher torque, wearing tyres faster and creating even more harmful tyre pollution. With tyre pollution still increasing, and the rapid growth of EV adoption accelerating, it is vital that we don’t neglect this problem and accelerate the adoption of better EV-tyres as soon as possible.
