Cargoroo’s electric neighborhood cargo bikes will be available to residents in The Hague from Sunday 15 September. This handy alternative to the car appears on the streets in nine neighborhoods in The Hague. With a large cargo box, seat belts for three children, MaxiCosi adapters and a range of 100 kilometers, the electric neighborhood cargo bike is the practical and environmentally friendly means of transport for families and entrepreneurs.

On Sunday 15 September, Cargoroo will show this internationally awarded mobility solution on Koningsplein to anyone who is interested. It is possible to take a test drive between 12.30 and 1.30 pm. It is also possible to ask questions to the initiators of Cargoroo and to local residents who recently participated in the test phase. Alderman Van Asten gives the go-ahead for the new e-cargo bike for The Hague.

Fifty electric cargo bikes, nine neighbourhoods
From Sunday 15 September, Cargoroo’s electric neighborhood cargo bikes will be ready for use in nine neighborhoods in The Hague. Signing up for Cargoroo is easy. New users will soon be able to download the app and immediately reserve a neighborhood cargo bike after registration. The nine neighborhoods have been selected in consultation with the municipality of The Hague. These are neighborhoods where many people probably want to use the cargo bike. The neighborhoods where Cargoroo starts are: Statenkwartier, Geuzenkwartier, Sweelinckplein neighbourhood, Koningsplein neighbourhood, Bomenbuurt, Bloemenbuurt, Valkenboskwartier, Zeeheldenkwartier and Bezuidenhout.

Cargoroo: the alternative
Cargoroo – an Amsterdam startup and one of the startups participating in Mobility Lab 2019 – is already renting out electric neighborhood cargo bikes through a pilot in Haarlem. With Cargoroo, initiators Jaron Borensztajn, Jelle Maijer and Erik de Winter want to entice people to look at mobility in busy city centers differently. Motorists in the city center of The Hague are on the road for a long time, their average speed rarely exceeds 25 kilometers per hour. In addition, in about 80 percent of all car journeys the distance is less than 20 kilometers. The Cargoroo electric cargo bike is a suitable alternative for those distances. The cargo bike offers users the freedom and independence of reliable and practical city transport, parking convenience and makes them less dependent on the car.
